Come join us to the paradise of French Polynesia for an epic cruise you’ll treasure forever. Let the trade winds gracefully fill our sails as we visit one legendary island after another, staying overnight in most to provide you time to explore. Experience the fascinating Polynesian culture, roam lush rain forests for secluded waterfalls, swim crystal clear lagoons and relax on a pink powder beach lapped by the sapphire seas. Think you’ll be bored? Imagine snorkeling the most intense aqua imaginable over canyons of coral reefs. You can visit pilot dolphins in their natural habitat and swim with gentle stingrays. Maybe you’d prefer paddling a canoe into a lagoon for a picnic, hiking the coconut trail, scuba diving, shopping for local handicrafts or simply a beach massage.

Windstar sets the standard for both a fun and blissful vacation. They’ve sailed this for decades so these waters are their home with yachts designed to explore shallow lagoons and hidden inlets. Our Wind Spirit is a sleek 4-mast yacht with four open teak decks and holds just 148 passengers.

Dine on gourmet cuisines with the finest wines in the restaurants or under the stars. There’s a pool, pool bar with live music, jacuzzis, state of the art gym, casino, DVD library and more. All staterooms are ocean-view with flat screen TV, Bose sound system, beautiful bathrooms, cotton robes, mini bar, fresh flowers and fruit. Off the Aquamarine Water-sports platform you can snorkel, paddleboard, wind-surfer, or kayak the turquoise waters. Scuba equipment available for an additional charge.

The only way to properly experience the Tahitian Islands is by cruise because it is far too expensive by land and you only unpack once. Papeete, Moorea, Bora Bora, Tahaa, Raitea and Huahine – 6 glorious islands and outer atolls in the Society Islands and Polynesia are the best of the best. I’m leading this trip because I think it’s the most beautiful place on earth. Surround yourself with verdant mountain peaks and infinite shades of blue. This Pearl of the Pacific is as dreamy as it gets.

Our Glorious Itinerary

Nov 15 – Air Details Later

It’s so easy to fly round-trip from the west coast to Tahiti. Delta airlines now codeshares with Air Tahiti Nui.

Nov 16 - Papeete, Tahiti – Must be on-board by 4:00PM

The legendary seductress of sailors and capital of French Polynesia. Both Captain Cook and later Captain Bligh dealt with sailors who longed to stay in this tropical paradise (One more successfully than the other). And while the city is no longer the primitive village it once was, it retains its own set of charms.

This evening, join your fellow AFS travelers for a Captain’s Cocktail Party.

Things to consider in Papatee: The market is a city block long - bargain for shell jewelry, fragrance oils, spa products, paintings and pearls), Segway tours, jeep safari, catamaran rides, jet skis, Museum of Tahiti or the new Gaugin Museum, Pearl Museum, hiking tours, Bougainville Park, Vanilla plantation, Pearl farm and more.

Nov 17 - Moorea

It’s called the magical island for its majesty of nature. A wide shallow lagoon surrounds the vertical mountains. In the running for most beautiful island in the world, even more awesome at sunset. The downtown market, "Le Marché" is the best place to purchase your hand-dyed pareau (sarong). And when your stomach starts to growl from looking at the fresh island produces, head to the waterfront and Vai'ete Square to dine with the locals from food trucks known as "Les Roulottes".

Have you seen the musical "South Pacific"? Then the easiest way to describe Moorea is to tell you that it was probably the inspirations for James michener's Bali Hai. It's what most people dream of when they picture a gorgeous South Seas Island - jagged green volcanic peaks, a shallow blue lagoon bedded by white sand, tiny motus (islets) offshore. The island's 12,000 residents are keenly aware they have an image to uphold, so they buried all the unsightly power cables to give you seamless views of paradise.

Things to do: Circle the island by boat, full-day culture tour, 4WD to fabulous Belvedere lookout and Magical Mountain, hike 3 coconuts trail, tropical fruit farm, helicopter tour and more.

Nov 18 - Tahaa

Tahaa is ringed by almost 60 motus and a magnificent coral reef that invites discovery. This is the ‘Vanilla Island’ for its rich aroma of vanilla and hibiscus. It’s even shaped like a flower and offers total tranquility.

Options to consider are village hopping, a moto picnic, an exploration dive, overland safari, dance lessons, pearl farm and the turtle conservation center.

Nov 18 & 19 - Raiatea

Raiatea means ‘Far away heaven’ named by ancient Polynesians. It’s the most sacred island of the South Pacific and second largest in the Tahitian chain.

This is one of the most traditional islands. Its few thousand residents live a tranquil life fishing, raising livestock, and growing crops from the sought-after vanilla bean to watermelon and copra. You may be lucky enough to see the villagers stone fishing just like their ancestors once did. They wade into the lagoon slapping the water with stones tied to ropes, which drives the fish ashore. The island also produces some of the finest black pearls in the Pacific - a testament to the purity of the water.

Things to consider: Submarine tour, river cruising, and sacred Mount Temehani by horseback.

Nov 20 & 21- Bora Bora

Bora Bora is called the romantic island, is love at first sight. Perfect white sand beaches where luxury resorts and spas dot the island.

Bora Bora is a major international destination, famous for its aqua-centric luxury resorts. The major settlement, Vaitape, is on the western side of the main island, opposite the main channel into the lagoon. Produce of the island is mostly limited to what can be obtained from the sea and the plentiful coconut trees, which were historically of economic importance for copra (coconut oil). Bora Bora has a permanent population of 8,800 residents.

We will enjoy an exclusive Beach Barbeque, complete with local flair and fire dancers.

Things to do: fabulous Matira Beach, Lagoonarium to swim with fishes, extremely popular coral gardens to greet the giant manta rays, Mt. Otemanu 2500-foot volcano, shark feeding, speed boats, pearl factory, fire dance show and more.

Nov 22 - Huahine

‘The Garden of Eden’ for its lush forests and untamed landscape is one of Polynesia’s best kept secrets. A deep, crystal-clear lagoon surrounds the two islands while magnificent bays and white-sand beaches add drama and solitude to their virtues.

Relatively unchanged by the modern world, Huahine offer a slower taste of old Polynesia. With only eight small villages scatted across the island, the few residents welcome visitors with great kindness. Not surprisingly, this fertile world offers rich soil providing the locals farmers a bountiful harvest of vanilla, melons, and bananas.

Things to consider: Circle-Island Tour, jet skiing, diving, bicycles, glass bottom boats, deep sea fishing, cultural tour, eco safari and more.

Nov 23 – Papeete, Tahiti

Return to Papeete for your evening flight or extend your stay.
